Sheen aims to make Welsh stories 'big and popular'

Michael Sheen has said he wants to offer "Welsh stories, by Welsh people, for Welsh people - and then take that out to the world" as he announces he will be funding a new theatre company to fill the gap left by the folding of National Theatre Wales.

Sheen praised series like Gavin and Stacey for engaging with audiences in the way he believes Welsh theatre can.

"I want this to be big and popular, and to appeal to the greatest number of people we possibly can," he said.
