A man who stole £10,000 of fishing equipment was caught because he was wearing a GPS tag at the time, police said.

David Keenan pleaded guilty to burglary after the gear was taken from a shed in Saffron Walden, Essex, on 24 August 2024.

Essex Police said the tag meant it could monitor Keenan's movements and provide clear evidence that he had been at the house in Peaslands Road.

The 38-year-old, from Gaces Acre in Newport, Essex, admitted the charge at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

He is due to be sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on 17 February.
