Police officer denies rape of young girl
A West Yorkshire Police officer has denied sexually abusing a young girl for four years when he was a youth.
PC Marcus Newbold, 29, pleaded not guilty to seven charges including rape, assault by penetration, assault by touching and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
The offences are alleged to have happened between 2007 and 2011.
Mr Newbold, of Lime Close, Normanton, appeared at Leeds Crown Court and was released on conditional bail. A trial date was set for 28 September 2026.
Mr Newbold, who joined the police in 2021 and was based in Kirklees District, was suspended from duty after the allegations were first made to police in 2022.
