Man jailed over stabbing and possession of weapons

A man who stabbed another man and fired shots on a Black Country street has been jailed for eight years.
West Midlands Police said Usman Jamal, 25, stabbed a man in the leg while he was sat in a vehicle, causing serious injuries.
The force added that shots were fired and a car was damaged during the disorder in Lye, near Dudley, in 2022.
Jamal, of Stourdell Road near Halesowen, was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on 14 February.
He pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to wounding with intent and possession of a firearm and ammunition.
He also pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a bladed article, as well as possession of cannabis.
Police said the incident took place on 5 May 2022, at the junction of Springfield Avenue and Cross Walks.
They said they later identified Jamal as the person who carried out the knife attack and the gunman, but he evaded police until his car was pulled over by firearms officers last August.
Jamal was sentenced to eight years in prison, with a further five years on probation, for wounding with intent.
He received shorter jail sentences for the charges relating to possession of weapons, and he will serve all of his sentences concurrently.
