Highland Council has appointed an estate agency firm to carry out a study of the long-term future of Inverness Town House.

It comes after the local authority moved its staff out of the A-listed building in 2023 as part of wider efforts to cut costs.

Savills will look at commercial options for the site, which would retain its core function of hosting civic events.

Opened in 1882, Inverness Town House is owned by the city's common good fund.

Savills associate director Adam Davies described the property as an iconic building, with an important historical legacy.

He said: "Our study will explore a range of future uses.

"We look forward to presenting our findings to the council for their consideration."
