Murder arrest after man, 75, stabbed in Putney
A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 75-year-old man was stabbed to death at a property in Putney, south-west London.
The Metropolitan Police said emergency services were called at about 03:30 GMT on Friday to an address in Deodar Road.
London Ambulance Service treated a man for stab injuries but he was pronounced dead at the scene, the force added.
The arrested man remains in police custody and it is believed he was known to the victim.
The Met said the deceased man's next of kin had been told, however formal identification had not yet taken place.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place on Friday.
Det Supt Amanda Mawhinney, from the south-west command unit, said: "I am aware that people in the community may feel shocked following this.
"We believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the public."
She said officers needed the local community to help them understand what happened.
"You may notice a higher police presence within the area today whilst we carry out our enquiries. A crime scene is in place as well as road closures," she added.
Inquiries remain ongoing.
