Relief at commitment to fix failing runway
The Policy & Finance Committee (P&F) has praised a decision by the States of Guernsey to repair Alderney's "failing runway".
It comes after Guernsey's chief minister Lyndon Trott welcomed the Policy & Resources Committee's (P&R) green paper confirming the project must proceed.
The P&F deputy chairman and Alderney representative, Edward Hill, said: "The community here will breathe a collective sigh of relief.
"We now look forward to working with Guernsey to get the project delivered, following the lengthy delays."
A P&F spokesperson said the committee recognised Trott's demand that any solution must be contained within the original estimate of £24m to make it affordable.
