A pedestrian who died after being hit by a car on the Isle of Man has been named.

Robert Kissack, 22, was struck by the vehicle on Whitebridge Road in Onchan at about 03:30 GMT on Sunday, the Isle of Man Constabulary said.

Mr Kissack was pronounced dead at Noble's Hospital an hour later.

Investigations into the incident are continuing and the driver is assisting with the force's inquiries, police confirmed.

The constabulary has urged any witnesses to contact its headquarters.

Family liaison officers are supporting Mr Kissack's relatives "through this sad time", the constabulary said.

A section of the road remained closed for about seven hours.
