Woman sexually assaulted near town

An investigation is being carried out after a woman was sexually assaulted in Shropshire.

Police said the attack happened in Woodside Avenue near Wantage, Telford, between 02:00-02:20 GMT on Monday.

Officers have been in the area carrying out enquiries, they said, and were appealing to the public for information.

"Understandably, an incident of this nature will cause concern for the public," said Det Insp Paul Drury. "I would like to reassure the local community that an investigation has been launched and enquiries are underway."
