City council plans 'temporary' 450-space car park

Hull City Council has submitted plans for a large "temporary" car park on derelict land off Holderness Road.
The 454-space facility would be created on the site of the former Evans Halshaw car dealership, to the west of Mount Pleasant.
The council said it was unable to comment on a live application.
However, National Highways, which manages the A63, has asked for planning permission to be delayed until the end of August to allow it to consider the potential impact on traffic flow.
The agency requested more details about the plans, including how long the temporary car park would be in place.
It said it wanted to understand whether the development would have a significant impact on traffic at the junctions of the A63 with Plimsoll Way and Mount Pleasant.
The plans show the car park would include 17 disabled parking bays, separate entry and exit points on to Holderness Road and a second exit to Bright Street.
Earlier this year, the council said work was likely to start this spring on repairs to nearby Drypool Bridge.
The work is likely to take about six months to complete and the authority has promised to take steps to "reduce the likely impact" on the city.
Drypool ward councillor Diana Hatcher said the car park would make it easier for people to park while repairs are being carried out on Drypool Bridge.
