A man has been arrested after illegal drugs, weapons and thousands of pounds in cash were found following a police pursuit in South Yorkshire.

An off-duty police officer saw a man moving packages between a silver Toyota and a white VW Polo on Windle Court in Treeton, Rotherham, on Monday.

A subsequent police pursuit saw the VW head towards Brinsworth, with a bag thrown from the vehicle before it stopped on Brinsworth Lane.

South Yorkshire Police found a "large amount" of cannabis, along with two knives and about £15,000 in bank notes.

The 20-year-old man, held on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, possessing criminal property, dangerous driving and failing to stop, has been bailed pending further inquiries.
