Murder suspect could be 'armed and dangerous'
Police have named a man wanted in connection with the death of a woman found injured in the street in Plymouth, warning he could be "armed and dangerous".
Devon and Cornwall Police named Paul Antony Butler, 53, and advised members of the public not to approach him.
The woman in her 40s died in hospital during the early hours of Thursday having been attacked the night before in Plymouth.
Det Insp Rob Smith said: "We have taken the steps of releasing an image of a man we need to identify in connection to the murder investigation."
He added: "At this time the suspect remains at large and a major response is under way.
"We believe that this man could be armed and dangerous, so we are telling the public not to approach him in any circumstances and immediately call 999 if you have seen this man."
'Screams' for ambulance heard
Officers said the suspect was about 6ft 5in (195cm) tall, of proportionate build with brown and grey hair, and blue eyes.
Police said officers were continuing to carry out inquiries to locate him and appealed to the public to provide any sightings or information regarding his whereabouts.
David Badham, general manager at Central Convenience on Walker Terrace near where the woman was found on West Hoe Road, said staff heard "screams" and people asking for an ambulance.
His shop was within the police cordon with officers asking him to keep the doors locked.
He was also told not to allow people in and out of the shop.
A resident, who asked to remain anonymous, added they were "deeply shocked and saddened" by what had happened.
