Powergrid worker suffers burns in substation fire

An investigation has been launched after a man suffered life-threatening injuries in a fire at a high-voltage electrical substation in Huddersfield.
A member of staff from Northern Powergrid was taken to Leeds General Infirmary following the blaze at the site on Market Street at about 20:30 GMT on Saturday.
Emergency crews were called to the site following reports of an explosion, according to West Yorkshire Police.
A spokesperson for Northern Powergrid said: "The site is now secure while we carry out an investigation into what caused the incident."
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews worked with police officers and Northern Powergrid as they tackled the fire.
In a statement, West Yorkshire Police said: "A man who was working at the substation suffered serious burns and was taken to hospital with what are believed to be life-threatening injuries."
The incident would be investigated by the Health and Safety Executive, they added.
