The ferry that operates between Guernsey and the UK is due to return to service next week after a month-long refit and rebranding, its operator has said.

The Islander - previously the Condor Islander - has had its Condor Ferries branding replaced by Brittany Ferries livery and the inside redecorated in the company's colours.

The roll-on-roll-off ferry is due to return to the route carrying passengers, cars and freight to and from Portsmouth from Tuesday.

Christophe Mathieu, Brittany Ferries' CEO, said: "This change in colours is therefore just the first step in improving the passenger experience, which will focus on reliability, comfort, hospitality and value."

Guernsey picked Brittany Ferries, Condor's parent company, last year to take over its ferry routes, while Jersey opted for DFDS.

The Islander, which entered service in 2005, carries up to 400 passengers as well as cars and freight lorries.

Another previous Condor ferry, the Voyager, will operate high speed services between St Malo, Guernsey, Poole and once a week to Jersey.

A third ferry, the Clipper, will be used elsewhere in the French company's network, but will serve as a back-up vessel for the island.
