Jack Molin was jailed for four years and banned from driving for eight years

A 23-year-old drink driver who caused a fatal crash in Cornwall said he deserved to be jailed.

Plymouth Crown Court heard how Jack Molin had drunk three pints of Guinness with work colleagues at a pub when he decided to drive to a McDonalds one day in July 2023.

He strayed across the A30 Hayle bypass and ploughed into a car being driven in the opposite direction by Melissa Polgase - who died at the scene.

Molin, of Highfield Road, Falmouth, admitted causing death by dangerous driving and was jailed for four years and banned from driving for eight years.

'Fully to blame'

Ms Polgase's parents said their hearts had been ripped out by her death and nothing could ease their hurt.

Molin said he was fully to blame for the crash and offered no excuses, adding he had momentarily lost concentration and drifted into her lane.

He said he was disgusted with himself and deserved to be jailed.

The judge at Plymouth Crown Court saw dashcam footage which showed the crash.

Judge Robert Linford said Molin was a "hard working, insightful, decent young man" but "you drank at least three pints and killed someone".

He added: "No sentence I pass can bring her back."
