America's last Revolutionaries: Rare photos of US patriots

In 1864, as the new art form of photography was becoming popular, someone had the forethought to trace the last living Revolutionary soldiers and photograph their portraits.

This was quickly followed by a book about the veterans that same year.

The six photographs now hold great significance to the United States and copies are kept in the Library of Congress. But what is the real story behind each veteran and, despite being aged 100-years-old or more, were they really the last surviving Revolutionaries?

Made with thanks to the Library of Congress and Don N Hagist, author of 'The Revolution's Last Men: The Soldiers Behind the Photographs'.
