Watch: Police issue warning after keyless car theft
Police have issued advice over ways to keep keyless cars safe after releasing doorbell footage showing the moment two thieves stole a vehicle.
One man was seen approaching the house and shortly after, the engine of the Mercedes S Class can he heard starting.
The theft happened in Breckland at 02:30 BST on 7 April and police arrested Mindaugas Grizas, 36, Lukas Zvirgzdys, 18, later that day.
Sgt Gary Morris from Breckland District Crime Unit said people should take simple steps to keep their keyless cars safe.
"Buy a faraday box or pouch… this blocks the signal from the keys meaning it can not be picked up by a relay device outside your home," he said.
Grizas, of no fixed address in Thetford, Norfolk, and Zvirgzdys, of Hillburn Road, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, admitted theft and using apparatus for the purpose of interfering with wireless telegraphy.
Grizas also pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and driving while disqualified.
At Norwich Crown Court, Grizas was sentenced to 16 months imprisonment and 24 months disqualification from driving.
Zvirgzdys was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service.
