A 22-year-old man has been banned from driving for a year after he was captured on dashcam crashing his car and plotting to report a fake car theft.
Charlie Taylor, of Wand Avenue, Bourne, Lincolnshire, lost control of his Mitsubishi Shogun on the A1 near Brampton, Cambridgeshire, on 2 March at 08:15 GMT following a night of drinking. He was more than twice over the alcohol limit.
The car was seen leaving the carriageway through a hedgerow and Taylor drove off through fields.
