Fly alongside a stunning starling murmuration

A drone videographer has captured a starling murmuration on camera after waiting weeks for the perfect opportunity.

Sam Thompson sent his drone up from his workplace in Needingworth, Cambridgeshire.

A murmuration is the early evening display performed by hundreds, or even thousands, of starlings as they fly and change direction in unison before settling down to roost for the night.

Mr Thompson had been flying drones professionally for eight years and said it was something he had always wanted to record.

"I've had a drone on standby ready to go for weeks waiting for the perfect evening. I work outside all year and nature is a huge passion for me and my family," he said.
