BBC Rewind: Making 500-year-old musical instruments
Archive BBC footage from 1977 shows a report on Barbara Stanley and Graham Lyndon-Jones whose hobby of making Renaissance musical instruments turned into a full-time business
Some of the instruments featured, and played, include a bass curtal, a rackett and a bass cornamuse.
The pair decided to devote themselves to their craft in their St Albans workshop after realising few others were doing the same thing.
Their main worry was not capturing the original sounds of instruments from the 15th and 16th Centuries.
