Firefighters tackle dozens of wildfires in Carolinas

Firefighters in the Carolinas have been battling dozens of wildfires over the weekend amid a combination of dry weather and gusty winds.

A state of emergency was declared in South Carolina on Sunday, with crews trying to contain a fire in the Carolina Forest area close to the coastal city of Myrtle Beach.

In North Carolina, crews are trying to contain multiple wildfires in four forests across the state, according to the US Forest Service.
