'Exciting opportunity' to buy Cheltenham toilets
Cheltenham Borough CouncilA block of town-centre toilets has been put up for sale, offering what the council describes as an "exciting opportunity".
Cheltenham Borough Council (CBC) has put the toilets on the corner of High Street and Ambrose Street on the market for offers over £65,000, plus VAT.
There are no restrictions on use for the building, which comes with a 150-year lease.
The council describes it as a "unique opportunity" for potential buyers.
Councillor Peter Jeffries, cabinet member for finance and assets, said: "We're offering an exciting opportunity to take a disused, unattractive building that is no longer fit for purpose and create something niche that will really add something positive to this part of the High Street.
"We're keen to hear from businesses and individuals with interesting proposals to bring it back into use."The toilets were closed several years ago and need a full refurbishment.
CBC has said, due to the former public conveniences' "prominent location", the site "has the potential to create an innovative landmark building that will help improve the local townscape".
The council also said it is keen to see proposals of "high-quality and innovative design" that will bring "some design flair to the building".
