Electric buses

A new fleet of all-electric buses will be deployed in Torquay this winter, Torbay Council says.

The new buses will operate across Bristol, Somerset and Wiltshire.

Reading is getting a total of 32 electric buses by summer 2026 thanks to government funding.

The government says the green vehicles are expected to be operational in Hull by spring 2027.

Authorities in Surrey and Brighton have been allocated a share of £37.5m government funds.

First Bus is carrying out work before the arrival of 24 buses in Weston-super-Mare and 74 in Bristol.

Buses from across the UK were reallocated to cover routes in Scotland while manufacturer repairs are made.

The new buses run on the E1, E2 and E6 routes between Wearside and South Shields.
