Claremont Pier in Lowestoft has rescheduled its New Year's Fun Day and Fireworks event

Two seaside fireworks displays have been postponed because of expected bad weather.

Claremont Pier, in Lowestoft, Suffolk, has moved its New Year's Fun Day and Fireworks event to 4 January.

The decision comes after a yellow weather warning was put in place, with forecasters predicting that strong winds will be likely to lead to disruption.

A spokesperson for the pier said: "While this change may require some adjustments, our commitment to safety and enjoyment remains our top priority."

'Unforgettable'

The rescheduled event will mirror the one which was due to take place on New Year's Day, with a funfair, food stalls, live music and two fireworks displays.

Spectators will be encouraged to make donations towards a project which aims to rebuild the end of the pier.

"We look forward to celebrating together in a welcoming atmosphere free from the constraints of the weather," said the spokesperson.

"Let's make this day unforgettable."
