Railway services have been disrupted due to a fire next to the tracks.

Southeastern said there had been delays, alterations and cancellations on the Hastings line after the incident at 06:00 BST on Tuesday.

The fire adjacent to the tracks resulted in a failure of the electricity supply at the depot near Hastings, East Sussex, preventing some trains from departing, the firm said.

"Once the fire is out, we will investigate the damage to resolve the power issues in the depot," a spokesperson said.

"Trains running through Hastings station may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised.

"The fire affecting the depot is still burning and thus preventing staff from investigating any damage and putting any fixes in place."

The company said disruption was expected until 10:00 BST.

Commuters are advised to allow for extra time for their journey, while passengers may use their ticket at no extra cost on Southern trains between Ashford International and Hastings, and Hastings and London Victoria.
