A man has denied multiple counts of rape and intentionally transmitting HIV to other men.

Adam Hall, 42, of Donvale Road, Washington, pleaded not guilty to 16 charges when he appeared via videolink at Newcastle Crown Court.

He is accused of raping five men between 2015 and 2022 and causing grievous bodily harm with intent to seven, with none of the victims allowed to be identified.

Mr Hall was remanded into custody with a trial expected to last up to six weeks listed for 3 November.
