A man has died following a crash in a supermarket car park, police have said.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said it was called to the Asda car park in Dock Road, Gosport, at 17:45 GMT on Saturday.

The force said it was reported that a blue car had collided with a pedestrian, a 69-year-old local man, who was helped out from underneath the car by members of the public.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin have been informed.

The car park was closed on Saturday evening while an investigation was carried out but has since reopened.

Police said they want to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened or has footage of the incident.
