Specialist care home has extension plans approved

Plans to extend a city care home, which is located on a former Roman "centre of wellness", have been approved.
Eagle Wood Neurological Care Centre on Bretton Way, Peterborough, has 105 bedrooms and provides specialist care for people with complex needs.
Proposals were submitted to the city council to turn office space into an additional nine bedrooms, three suites and day spaces, along with additional parking. No objections were received and the plans were given the go-ahead.
The care home, which opened in 2012, sits on land used in the Roman times. Its construction uncovered a Roman bath, which is displayed in the reception area.
Some of the more modern facilities at Eagle Wood include a hydrotherapy pool, skills kitchen, coffee bar, sensory gardens, therapy room, gym and a mini golf course.
The case officer report said: "Given that the care facility is existing and in operation, the loss of office space would not impact the wider commercial sector within Peterborough."
