Some of the largest kites in the world will be on display this weekend.

Held across Saturday and Sunday at Redcar, on Teesside, the event is billed as one of the biggest kite festivals in the country.

A number of displays will be staged alongside family activities, while there will also be fairground rides, food stalls and live music.

A total of 17,000 people visited last year's inaugural festival, according to Redcar and Cleveland Council.

Councillor Carrie Richardson, cabinet member for climate and culture, said this year's follow-up would be "spectacular" fun with "big crowds" expected.

A park-and-ride service will be operating between Kirkleatham Showground and the seafront every 20 minutes.

Return tickets for the buses will be £2 for adults and £1 for children aged five to 16.

Disabled parking will be available at Majuba Road car park, the council said.
