Woman dies in hospital after car park crash

A woman in her 80s has died in hospital following a road traffic collision in Cornwall.

Police said officers were called to reports of a crash involving a red Vauxhall Corsa and a white Nissan van at Wadebridge Medical Centre at about 02:55 GMT on Tuesday 25 February.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the Vauxhall struck the parked and unattended van in the car park and then collided with a stone wall at the exit of the car park at Jubilee Road.

The woman, who was in the passenger seat, suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital but sadly passed away on Friday, police said.

The driver, a local man in his 80s, was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The woman's next of kin has been informed.
