Woman hit on motorway has life-changing injuries
A woman who was hit by a car on a motorway has been left with life-changing injuries, police said.
On 21 December a woman and a dog got out of a black SUV on the hard shoulder of the A1(M) heading south between junction four for Welwyn and junction five for Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire Constabulary said.
The SUV drove away and sometime between 04:45 and 04:55 GMT the woman was hit by a black Audi, possibly an A6 model, on the northbound carriageway.
The force added that the woman remains in hospital with life-changing injuries and the dog, which was uninjured, is with her family members.
Det Con James McAlister, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "The driver of the car which struck the woman has not been identified and has not yet come forward.
"We are keen to hear from anyone who has information which may help us trace the driver, and who has not yet spoken to us."
