Rapist jailed after 'degrading' attack
A man who raped a woman in a "violent, degrading and sustained" attack at a home in Nottingham has been jailed for 10 years.
Nottinghamshire Police said Timilehin Olatunji's victim used an app on her mobile phone to record the audio of the assault in the early hours of 29 September 2024.
She was subsequently able to escape from the property and reported what had happened to officers, who arrested the 35-year-old a short time later.
He went on to plead guilty to three counts of rape and was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday.
'Sustained ordeal'
Olatunji, of Walbrook Close, Nuthall, was added to the Sex Offenders' Register for life and made the subject of an indefinite restraining order to protect the victim.
After the hearing, Det Con Emily Bucklow said the recorded evidence made the case "particularly harrowing" for the officers who worked on it.
"It is one of the most upsetting things I have had to listen to in my policing career and only enhances my admiration for this victim's bravery," she said.
"I would also like to commend her for the courage she showed following Olatunji's arrest and dignity during the subsequent court proceedings.
"He subjected her to a violent, degrading and sustained ordeal but she has shown immense bravery to help us bring him to justice.
"I hope the sentence handed down will at least provide some closure to what must have been an acutely distressing period of her life."
