Reggie's Grill was closed by Slough Borough Council last month and remains shut

A "widespread infestation of cockroaches" has led to a takeaway being closed by a council.

Reggie's Grill and Curry on Bath Road was closed by Slough Borough Council's food and safety team on 18 February under emergency powers.

The council obtained an emergency order on 21 February and it remains shut.

"The team is monitoring treatment and conditions to assess when it can be reopened," a council spokesperson said.

"The business can only reopen when the health risk condition has been eradicated."

News of the closure was announced by councillor Ishrat Shah, who is responsible for public health and protection, at a meeting on 6 March.

Shah was updating councillors on the performance of her department as they prepared to debate spending plans for the coming year.

Reggie's has been contacted for comment.
