Arrest made in 1995 rape investigation of teenager

A 57-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a teenager 30 years ago.
In April 1995, a 13-year-old girl was found by police on Abercrombie Way, in Harlow, Essex.
She had been with her friend, speaking with a group of unknown men, who were in a car close to the BP garage on Southern Way. She told officers she was then sexually assaulted and raped by the suspects in the car.
The man arrested on Wednesday is from Harlow, Essex Police said.
Det Ch Insp Greg Wood believed the local community could know more and appealed for anyone with information to contact the force.
He said: "This is a significant investigative development – but we know there were other men in the car when the young victim was sexually assaulted.
"I would encourage them to contact the police so they have their opportunity to tell us what happened.
"No detail is too small when we are working to make sure the victim in this case sees justice done."
