A 53-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle crash on a clockwise section of the M25 shortly after the morning rush hour.

Thames Valley Police said a blue Ford Kuga crashed at about 09:20 GMT on Thursday, between junction 15 for the M4, near Slough, and junction 16 for the M40, near Denham, Buckinghamshire.

The driver of the vehicle died at the scene and no other passengers were in the vehicle at the time, the force said.

The man's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.

PC Richard Lunn, from the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the driver at this extremely difficult time."

The force has appealed for anyone with information or dashcam footage to get in touch.

National Highways said part of the road was closed for several hours and fully reopened at about 12:15.
