More than 200 solar panels are being installed on the roof of a leisure centre in a bid to reduce swimming pool energy costs.
North Yorkshire Council said the scheme at Selby Leisure and Wellbeing Hub could save up to £21,900 annually and contribute to carbon savings.
Preparatory work on the roof recently started, with the £100,000 project expected to be completed by the end of March.
Greg White, the council's executive member for managing our environment, said the project reinforced the authority's commitment to supporting renewable energy.
The upgrades, financed by Sport England's swimming pool support fund, will see 216 solar panels fitted in total.
Simon Myers, the council's executive member for culture, arts and housing, said: "This project will allow us to make vital savings on energy costs and reduce carbon emissions, while ensuring we continue to offer the best leisure facilities possible for our communities."
