Number of affordable homes built 'disappointing'

The President of Guernsey's Employment and Social Security Committee has said the number of affordable homes built has been "disappointing".
Deputy Peter Roffey said around 70 affordable homes have been constructed on the island since the start of this political term, with a further 29 units under construction.
The committee is working alongside the Environment and Infrastructure Committee to develop alternative ways to deliver more affordable housing.
Deputy Roffey said a number of factors outside the committee's control led to delays.
He added: "I personally believe that certainly with the current level of migration to Guernsey that we need circa a thousand new units of affordable housing over the next five to 10 years."
Deputy Roffey said that his committee had successfully secured "a pipeline of land for development" and "the number of properties constructed has been disappointing although progress is now accelerating".
