An appeal has been launched by police after a man was allegedly raped on Margate promenade.

Kent Police said the incident was reported to have happened between 20:30 GMT and 21:30 on Tuesday.

Detectives said a man had been walking on the promenade between the lido and Newgate Gap, near Ethelbert Crescent, when he was approached by another man and the alleged assault took place.

The suspect is described as slim, less than 5ft 5ins (1.6m) tall, and aged in his early 20s.

Police said he was believed to be wearing a black hooded coat, black tracksuit, and black trainers.
