A former call handler with West Midlands Police has been charged with drugs offences following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

Alisha Iftikhar, 25, is charged with supplying a Class A drug (cocaine).

The offence is alleged to have taken place in Birmingham between 1 December 2023 and 4 June last year, the IOPC said.

Ms Iftikhar is due to appear before magistrates in Birmingham on Thursday.

The IOPC said an investigation under its direction was carried out by West Midlands Police's counter corruption unit, following a referral from the force in February 2024.

It then referred the matter to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), which authorised the charge against Ms Iftikhar.

West Midlands Police said it would not comment, since the investigation was being led by the IOPC.
