Dog owners visiting Northam Burrows Country Park should be careful near sheep

Dog walkers have been urged to take care near sheep in part of north Devon during lambing season.

Torridge District Council issued the warning in relation to a flock of sheep grazing at Northam Burrows Country Park in Northam, near Bideford.

Stress caused by dogs chasing or attacking sheep - known as sheep worrying - could cause pregnant ewes to abort, the council said.

The council said sheep worrying was a criminal offence and dog owners should keep their pets under control when visiting the park.
