'Village asset' outdoor pool reopens

England's highest heated open-air swimming pool has reopened for the summer season after a fundraising campaign.
Run by volunteers, the facility in Shap, Cumbria, is just under 1,000 ft (304 m) above sea level.
Popular with both the local community and visitors, it has been described as an asset to the village.
After nearly £20,000 was raised for new filters and to support the running costs, it will now be open until September.
Briony Newsome, chair of the committee which runs the pool, said: "A lot of hard work has gone into the pool over the last few months to get it ready.
"We've had a new filter system installed and a new window in the shop, all funded with grants and fund raising."
While there has been a good volunteer base helping out at the pool, new people are always being sought.
"The pool is an asset to the village and local community and we need support to continue into the future," Ms Newsome said.
The pool opened at 12:00 BST.
