Man jailed for repeated threats to mum for cash
A man who repeatedly threatened his mother to give him money despite being banned from contacting her has been jailed for a year.
Kieran Hiddleston, 26, plagued his mother with phone calls and visits to her house and threatened she would be attacked unless she gave him cash, Newcastle Crown Court heard.
He was the subject of a restraining order at the time, banning him from going to her home.
Hiddleston admitted breaching that order and putting a person in fear of violence by harassment.
Hiddleston was banned from going to his mother's home in Morpeth, Northumberland, for five years in June 2022 after making regular and threatening demands for money, the court heard.
But he went there multiple times in June and July last year, banging on windows and shouting through the letterbox, while also repeatedly phoned her insisting she give him cash, prosecutors said.
Hiddleston said he would smash windows, burn her car and tell criminals where she lived so they could attack her, the court heard.
Recorder Christopher Rose said Hiddleston, of no fixed abode, had made his mother's life a misery and caused her deep fear and upset.
A fresh restraining order to last a further five years was also made.
