MP spent days in intensive care amid serious illness
An MP is "scaling back" her workload after spending Christmas in intensive care, it has emerged.
Sarah Gibson, the Liberal Democrat MP for Chippenham, is recovering at her Wiltshire home after five days in the intensive care unit at the Royal United Hospital (RUH) in Bath, Somerset.
The reason for her hospital visit has not been confirmed, but she said in a statement that she had suffered a serious health issue.
"My dedicated team will be handling correspondence, casework, and urgent issues on my behalf," she added.
'Manageable condition'
Ms Gibson, elected a member of Parliament in July, spent a further five days under observation at the hospital before she was discharged.
While her condition was "manageable", she had been medically advised to limit her constituency and parliamentary activities, she said.
"I deeply appreciate the understanding and support of my constituents as I focus on recovery to ensure I can continue to represent our community effectively in the long term," she said.
"I would also like to thank the staff at the RUH for the flawless and attentive care I received during my stay."
