Thief banned from Greggs stores in town centre

A thief who assaulted a police officer has been banned from all of the Greggs stores in a town.

Tashaun Pink, 36, was given a three year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) after assaulting a female police officer who had been called to reports of him stealing from a store in Northampton.

He was later charged and admitted 18 offences, including assault by beating of an emergency worker and common assault of an emergency worker, plus seven counts of thefts from Greggs, eight counts of failing to comply with a community protection notice and one count of obstructing police.

Pink, of South Oval, Northampton, was jailed for 48 weeks and handed the order at Northampton Magistrates' Court on 1 January.

All offences occurred in Northampton in August and September, the force said.

Northamptonshire Police said it wanted to publicise the conditions of Pink's CBO ahead of his release from prison to prevent future offending.

His conditions include:

  • Not entering Northampton town centre
  • Not acting in an anti-social manner
  • He must have a receipt for any new shop goods in his possession while in public
  • He must leave any premises when he has been asked to leave and not enter any Spar or Greggs stores in Northamptonshire.

Insp Nicola Davis-Lyons, of Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "Pink's actions in repeatedly targeting the same stores caused distress and fear to staff, as well as their customers.

"He knew he shouldn't be in the town centre as he had already been issued with a community protection notice banning him from the area, which he chose to ignore."
