Two teens arrested in Greenock under Terrorism Act
Two teenagers have been arrested over separate offences under the Terrorism Act in Greenock, Inverclyde.
Police said a boy, 16, was arrested shortly after 09:00 at the Inverclyde Islamic Centre on Laird Street.
The BBC understands that police are investigating whether the alleged offences were connected to right wing extremism.
Assistant Chief Constable Andy Freeburn said there was nothing to suggest there was any further risk to the public.
A second 16-year-old boy was then arrested in the afternoon.
ACC Freebairn said: "During the course of the investigation, a second 16-year-old male youth was arrested this afternoon in the Greenock area in connection with a separate terrorism offence.
"He has been released without charge pending further inquiries."
He urged anyone with information or concerns to speak to officers. Inquiries are continuing.
