Two more in court following Waltham Abbey shooting

Two people have appeared in court after a man was shot in the leg in a residential cul-de-sac.

The alleged victim was taken to hospital with injuries initially treated as life-threatening after the incident in Howard Close, Waltham Abbey, Essex, at about 15:30 GMT on 24 November.

The two defendants appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

A third defendant had already been charged with attempted murder and has denied the offence in court.

Amir Mahamud, 26, of Garfield Road, Enfield, north London, was charged with attempted murder, being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug (cocaine) and a Class B drug (cannabis), and possession of a firearm.

Margit Knap, 41, of Howard Close, Waltham Abbey, was charged with encouraging [or] assisting in the commission of attempted murder.

Ms Knap is due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on 18 February, and Mr Mahamud is due to appear at the same court on 19 February.

On 3 January at Basildon Crown Court, Hamidreza Nasiri, 30, of Holbrook Close, Enfield, pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He is due to stand trial at Basildon on 14 April.

Essex Police said on Wednesday that the alleged victim "has been recovering from the injury".
