Police issue plea after drink-drive operation
Police have renewed calls for drivers not to put lives at risk after their Christmas drink-drive operation led to a number of arrests.
Guernsey Police conducted stop checks on 256 vehicles, completed 27 roadside breath tests, reported two speeders, and issued tickets for five seatbelt offences.
In total six drivers were arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, with two of them blowing more than 100mg in their roadside breath test; which is nearly three times the legal limit.
It added: "While our Christmas campaign is over, our work to catch drink-drivers and put them in front of the courts continues."
In December 2023, there were 10 arrests for drink-driving, with three people found with alcohol levels at double the legal limit.
In 2020 a total of 20 related arrests were made in December.
