Controlled explosion carried out on suspected WW2 bomb

A controlled explosion has been carried out on a suspected World War Two bomb in Coleraine.
Police were contacted after the device was discovered in the Strand Road area of the town shortly after noon on Thursday.
Although residents were not initially required to leave their homes, a number of homes along the Strand Road and a primary school were evacuated for a time to allow for a controlled explosion to be carried out by Army Technical Officers (ATO).
The incident was dealt with by about 18:00 GMT on Thursday, the police have said.
