Two men charged with attempted murder after machete attack

Two men, aged 60 and 30 years old, have been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The charges relate to a serious assault in Newcastle, County Down, where a man is believed to have been an attacked with a machete.

The incident happened at approximately 12:30 BST on Saturday in the Tipperary Lane area.

The victim sustained serious injuries to his face, hands and legs in the assault.

Both men are due to appear at Downpatrick Magistrates' Court on Monday 23 June.
