Pedestrian suffered fatal head and chest injuries

A pedestrian who was hit by a car died from head and chest injuries, an inquest has heard.

Robert Kissack was struck by the vehicle on Whitebridge Road in Onchan, opposite the Manx Fun Farm, at about 03:30 GMT of 29 December.

The 22-year-old, who was an agricultural worker, was from Crosby in the west of the Isle of Man.

A statement from the Isle of Man Constabulary read at the hearing confirmed the driver had been arrested and released on police bail while investigations continued.

The inquest heard the three occupants of the car, along with members of the public, had helped with resuscitation efforts until the emergency services arrived.

Adjourning the inquest at Douglas Courthouse, Coroner James Brooks extended his condolences to Mr Kissack's family.
